Odiham District Centenary Camp
A celebration of 100 years of Scouting
Following the incredible feat of organisation to bring together in excess of 500 members, the Lord blessed us with the third hottest day of the year and the hottest October day ever recorded… Hardly a cloud in the sky greeted the 9 Cubs 15 Scouts and one Beaver from the 2nd – the smiley face flag over the group’s camp seemed to say it all.
Over a day and half the members followed break-neck schedules in groups mixed with scouts & cubs from other groups – activities lasting 30 to 45 minutes ran back to back – with the more physical activities interspersed with less strenuous ones. The groups shot air rifles, laser clays, ran assault courses, climbed walls, ran the assault course, practiced their circus skills, tried orienteering (with varying commitment!) cycled, built rafts canoed and visited the military museum – and that is just what comes to mind!

Needless to say the members had a ball, enjoying all the activities and in particular the excellent fare masterminded by the master-chef of the camp. Throw in a camp fire with Tim taking a few mouthfuls of water for the team, and no rocking was required come lights out.

Particularly memorable moments included the raft that operated more like a submersible, some members taking a first shot with an air rifle, a highly competitive assault course run, a bulls eye arrow, and John going all domesticated with the needle.

Future of the website
At the last Group Executive meeting it was agreed that we would continue to develop the website for the running of the Scout Group. As we gain experience we will learn what can be done via the website and what must be done by traditional means, that is, letters. We realise that, to avoid spamming and giving away people's personal details, some communications cannot go via the website.
If anyone has any comment or suggestions to make please email me by clicking on my name below. This will generate an email for you to complete.
Needless to say there are still a few bits that we are working on. So do not be surprised by blank pages and bits that do not work.
Last but not least the history pages- as time permits I shall continue to research the history and build up these pages.
